In Runescape, gaining levels in the Mining Skill is one of the surest ways to wealth in the game.
Once you reach lvl 85 Mining, you are able to earn 1 million gp in three hours of game time by mining runite in the Hero’s Guild.
I’ll have to admit - Mining can get endlessly boring - though in the end, very profitable.
Generally, the are two strategies.
* Gain Levels Fast - Make The Big Money Sooner
* Make Some Money Now While Gaining Levels
As soon as you can mine coal - you can start selecting the strategy for you..
First Strategy - Gain Levels Fast
Simple and boring - mine iron and drop it.
Don’t spend time going to the bank - you miss 5k mining exp for every trip you take. This strategy works best in three places in the Free Worlds - South west of Varrock, in the Dwarven Mines, and the Hobgoblin Mine at lvl 32 wild. Find a place where you can mine three iron, then drop three and mine three - repeat till you fall alseeeep. When you wake up - you’ll be amazed at how fast you can level up. Once you get to 70 mining, you may want to change to the second mining strategy for a while - sell your Addy Ore on the GE.
Second Strategy - Make Money Now
Another simple solution - mine coal till you can mine addy, then mine nothing but addy till you get to runite.
Coal Miners always can find buyers. Coal is a base commodity in Runescape so don’t worry about saving up to much.
If you sell your coal, mith and addy ore - your smithing levels will suffer - but, smithing is easy to catch up on once you start mining runite! Don’t worry about smithing so much until after lvl 70 mining…
Mith ore is worthless these days. What are Members Mining that has replaced Mithril ore at this level?
Linkbuilder.
Actually, for a change of pace I will occationally mine a bunch of iron, then smith it into bars. Sells immedately on the GE for
347 gp. Won't make you rich but does make you money. Gets dull pretty quick though. Thanks for your post.
If you're mining for money, try getting 43+ magic so you can use the superheat spell to make bars without a furnace. That way, instead of getting
395 gp per inventory slot with mithril ores, you can be making
1810 gp minus
208 gp (for the nature rune) when you superheat mithril bars while mining. Of course, it'll take longer to mine for each trip, because of the coal, but you'll bank a lot less often and earn some smithing and magic experience in the process.
I use the superheat technique on mainly adamant bars, a full inventory can fetch around 50k including the cost of nature runes. All in all a full inventory is 20 bars requiring you to mine 120 coal. Depending on how fast you are this should make around 100 - 200k an hour. I'd recommend the tree gnome mine (Or whatever it's called) it's rarely crowded and is relatively close to a bank, not like this matters since you'll be banking very little. Also try world hopping for adamant ore since they're only 3 or so rocks knocking about here. Of course it's perfectly reasonable to make mithril bars as well, although it won't be quite as profitable.
I have tried the superheat method, and, although longwinded, it works. More effiectient as you get into the higher ores.
i have 99 mining and i like mining from time to time... but the only time i really mine rune, i tend to do it during the day because of how many people are at school, work, etc. With that said.... within an hour i actually hit up all the worlds and got my rune, i do say that i have made quite alot on those days. And for a period of time, i had owned a dragon pickaxe and mined 1k addy in a day. It can be done best once regicide haas been completed and at least started Mournings End I. With all the addy rocks right outside of the the elf town, and maybe an anti poison or 2, this place has worked extremely well for me. Along with the idea of mining, another great thing to mine when you get to a higher level would either be coal or gold. They mine fairly quickly. With Legends quest completed, skills necklaces become quite handy when mining at the mining guild. Firstly, use a ring or dueling to tele to castle wars with a full load of coal, then use your skills necklace to tele right back to the mining guild. And repeat! The only things you really need are a varrock 2-3 armour, glory (for extra gems), and your teleports! Happy mining! if you have any questions i will be glad to help! =)
I'm not much of a miner myself, but once you have reached lvl 80 mining, the living rock caverns are the place to go! It is right inside the dwarven mine coming from edgeville. You mine gold there, one click will let you continuously mine gold and banking it is a short distance from the rock. There will be higher lvl monsters in there so be sure to bring a little armor, mithril is good and pretty light weight, or black dhide is always an option. Its pretty easy to catch on, but down there you can make around 40-50k / hr and bank tons of cash!
Good luck!
If you don't want to wait til level 80, you can mine coal at the living rock caverns at level 77, not only do you get one click mining, like Stramel has already said, but you have the possibility of mining two ores at once. I like to stack this with Varrock armour which gives the possibility of mining three at once. In a relatively short amount of time (a few days or so at about a couple of hours a day) I managed to bank 4500 coal, and a lot of xp.
that sounds amazing but, getting to that level can be long and hard, both mentally and physically. i am currently level 65 mining and i dont give up all that easily so could someone give me some guidance on how to get my levels up?
I think at around your level the best thing to do is to power mine iron. I used to go to the Ardougne north east mine, there are three rocks in a triangle formation for continuous mining and simply drop your inventory every time it's full. Sorry to say but mining is one of the hardest and most tedious skills to train, you could always do the Varrock level 1 diary to get the armour which gives a fairly high chance of mining two ores at once, up to and including coal so this could help with the iron. Also after mining a crashed star one of the rewards is the ability to gain two ores at once on any ore for 15 minutes, although I'd only recommend mining stars if you're going for the high ores like rune since the time lost mining the star would hurt the xp you could gain with the iron in the same time. At around level 70 you could try coal, it's a little slower but you could make some money in the process. I went from 75 to 77 in a few hours at the coal trucks west of seers village, the mining guild is a good spot for coal as well. Sorry I can't offer anymore help, I felt pretty limited to how I could train mining. As a final note, there are always boost like dwarven stout to increase your mining level and some quests may reward mining xp. Just stick at it, don't burn yourself out in one session, I used to do an average of an hour to 2 hours max a day, as long as it's good quality mining with as little time wasted as possible you should get a high level in no time.
