What are your all's opinions on the
update today, Constitution or Hitpoints?
Well, I believe the main reason they scaled it all by 10 was so players could see the hidden fractional hits on creatures and themselves. With Constitution, it better illustrates the amount of damage being taken. There used to be hidden fractional damage done in the times of Hitpoints. You would see a 7 but it could be a 7.2 or a 7.9 and not know which it was. Now its a 72 or a 79, just that simple.
There is no real difference between the Constitution and Hitpoints skill. Just the Constitution is scaled by 10. Hitpoints just had the simplicity factor going on with it...
At first I hated this idea of the Constitution skill and now I realize why they did it and really like the fact that they did it.
And one more point, I doubt Jagex will switch it back seeing as its the EXACT same game it was speed of kills doesn't change or anything. it all just is visual. So don't let it get into your head and make you mad.

At reading the news report, and diary about it, I was confused. Wondering why change it. Then, when I got ingame, I think it is better than the hitpoints skill. Takes some time to get used to though, but I think it will be easy to remember it.
This update doesn't make much sense if the old combat system rounded hitpoint damages.
In that case, as Absenm posted on another section, there's probably another update to follow up on this one.
If the old combat system didn't round up hitpoint damages then this is a great update and will definitely help players during training and monster killing.
I maintain my belief that this is a foundation update for a major future update. But I will say it is starting to grow on me and I can see it's value even if it turns out to be a stand alone update. But me being a coder, this still just feels like this is a required change needed for some significant future feature. I've done this type of thing several times with the MGE.
I'm starting to think that they may have changed it for the new skill they are supposed to release this year too. But I am pretty sure that part of it was for the fractional hits. After posting my opinion, I visited our friends at zybez and they had a post about the fractional hits also...
But I really hope there is more to this Constitution and lifepoints thing!
Personally I dont know what to think anymore... I am super mad still and i have read everything they have posted... I hope that they can justify themselves just a little bit better whenever they come out with a new update... I am starting to get used to it but i am also fighting against it in the RSForums... i dont know... i did not see any problems in the past with the damage done. If i still hit the same, why does a fraction need to be played into the outcome? I am against it until they surprise me with something else. Until then, i am just gonna have to wait idle through it... *sigh* =(
go back to real hp. They just wasted their time on *10. I see no time to add *10. Many players are finding hard time adapt. It would be better if there are no fraction added to whole number of hit points.
Nodough, why are you fighting against the update?
How does the update affect you negatively?
I haven't tried battling yet, so I don't know the disadvantages to this update.
I am fighting against the update because i really see no point in a decimal in combat. This update is targeted at the low leveled players and is not very significant to those higher up on the spectrum. I dont see the point in jagex trying to make it "easier" for lower levels when everybody on runescape got to where they are no going through that process. This game wasnt meant for little kids... and the reason that Jagex explained themselves was that they were trying to make the beginning more interesting. Yes...a decimal will help out in the long run... but people have been doing fine getting 99`s in their combat skill all the time. I see no reason for this update. I love everything that came with this update but the Hitpoints portion. I wish they would go back but knowing them, they wont listen to thier community on this portion. *sigh* I cant just live with this and be ok... I spent alot of time on this game and to me the whole combat style has changed due to an addition of a character. But in the end, its not so much the change i am worried about, for all of the players who havve played even longer than me, they are the ones that helped jagex become what they are today and not the newer players that they are more concerned for. Personally, i think they are gonna lose alot of members and they need to reconsider or fix (somehow) this situation we are all in.
I dunno... I've don't really see any difference in game play. The fractions have always been there. We just didn't see them before. I don't really see how it hurts or benefits players of any level. In and of itself, it seems more like a cosmetic change. I would say that to the weaker players it may give the illusion of more going on. Lets face it, hit a monster once with a 13 and again with a 7 and it will still give you a 30 when the old system would have credited you with a 3. Zero difference. The old system would have just shown a hit of 1 and another hit of 2. So it is horse a piece. It's not something I'm going to get too worked up over.
